Photo exhibition on His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo at Nehru Wangchuck Centre

Aphoto exhibition on His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo was inaugurated by Their Royal Highnesses Princess Kezang Choden Wangchuck and Princess Dechen Yangzom

Wangchuck on February 2 at Siddharth Art Gallery in the Nehru Wangchuk Cultural Centre (NWCC) in Thimphu.

The photo exhibition titled “His Majesty the 4th Druk Gyalpo and India’s leadership” showcases photographs of His Majesty’s visits

to India since enthronement. It is part of the celebrations of the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck.

At the event, the Indian Ambassador Gautam Bambawale said, “Some of the photographs have not really been seen before so it is a new discovery for a lot of us.” The photo exhibition will be on display for two weeks at NWCC, before being taken across the length and breadth of the country for the other people to see. The many photographs on display at the exhibition range from the Fourth King with Indian President Shri V.V Giri during the time of coronation in June 1974 at Changlimithang to the recent visit of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Indian Ambassador said the Monarchs of Bhutan are the architects of the very special relationship and partnership between India and Bhutan. “This exhibition will explain to you why exactly His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo has been very critical in this important partnership,” the Ambassador added. He said the partnership will continue to grow, and added, “I am sure very soon we will have an exhibition of His Majesty the King and his interactions with India’s leadership.”

Ambassador Gautam Bambawale said the photo exhibition of ‘His Majesty the Fourth King and India’s Leadership’ is one of the offerings to the people of Bhutan and the people of the India on the special year of the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth King.
